First time use / upload a whole modfolder Do the following on the PC that has the correct files - First read this
- What you need: a webserver, FTP access to the webserver.
- Start Arma Addons Synchroniser, go to the sync tab, tick the "enable upload" checkbox, restart the applilcation.
- The upload tab is now visible. Click it.
- On the upload tab, select a local modfolder by clicking the "Browse" button.
- VERY IMPORTANT: ALLWAYS GO TO THE "DEEPEST DIRECTORY" e.g if you want to select the "@CSM" mod then browse to "@CSM\Addons"
- VERY IMPORTANT: ARMA MUST NOT BE RUNNING WHEN DOING THIS!!
- Now click "Create Packages". You will now have to wait for some time. (The application is calculating MD5 sums for all files in the selected folder + zipping them all)
- After it's finished you'll get a messagebox "MD5 xml file and zips created". When you click OK the application will open a folder where you find all these files.
- Now you can start your FTP client and connect to your webserver.
- Create a folder called "updater" in the root of your webserver
- /updater
- VERY IMPORTANT: Create a subfolder called e.g "@CSM" with a subfolder "Addons" (You are to mimic how it's supposed to be in arma itself)
- /updater/@CSM/Addons
- Upload all the files you created to this "/updater/@CSM/Addons" folder
- Now that the folder is created we only have to do one more important thing
- VERY IMPORTANT: Create a file called "modfolders.txt" and add @CSM/Addons to it.
- Now upload this file to the webserver put it under /updater
- /updater/modfolders.txt
That's basically it: now all you have to do is tell your users to download and install Arma Addons Sync and to add a server with the following info for "Addons Server URL": http://yourwebserver.com/updater After that they'll be able to sync with your addonserver. Second time use (you allready have the modfolder online but some files have to be added/have changed)Do the following on the PC that has the correct files - Select your server in Arma Addons Sync (add it if it's not in there)
- Click the upload tab.
- Select the local addonfolder that has the changed files
- Click on the compare files button
- Click on the zip files button
After it's finished you'll get a messagebox "MD5 xml file and zips created". When you click OK the application will open a folder where you find the MD5 Sum with the changed files. This way it's very easy to upload as you only have to select the correct modfolder and upload the files, without having to search yourself what files have changed. OF COURSE ALL THE FILES IN THE ABOVE EXPLANATION SHOULD BE READABLE ON YOUR WEBSERVER OR THE APPLICATION CANNOT WORK IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME
